Shallot Caraway Rice

Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 shallots, diced finely
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon caraway seed
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup rice
- 1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
Recipe
- 1 in small or medium saucepan, heat oil and butter over medium heat.
- 2 add shallots and garlic cloves, sauté 3 minutes.
- 3 add caraway seeds, red pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. sauté 2 minutes.
- 4 add rice and entire can of chicken broth. stir, and bring to a boil.
- 5 cook rice according to directions on package.
- 6 *if using long grain rice, after bringing to a boil, cover, and simmer 20 minutes. take off heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes, then open lid and fluff with fork. serve hot.
