Spaghetti And Meat Balls

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 (1 lb) cans tomatoes
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 dry bread, sliced
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup romano cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 1. cook onion and garlic in hot oil till tender but not brown. stir in the next 8 ingredients. simmer uncovered 30 minutes; remove bay leaf. add italian meat balls (see below) and continue cooking about 30 minutes longer.
  • 2 2. soak bread in water for 2-3 minutes, then squeeze out moisture. combine soaked bread with remaining ingredients, mixing well. form in small balls (about 20). brown slowly in 2 t hot olive oil. add to sauce, cook 30 minutes as directed above.
