Spaghetti And Meat Balls

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 (1 lb) cans tomatoes
- 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 dry bread, sliced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup romano cheese, grated
- 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon oregano, crushed
- 1 teaspoon salt
Recipe
- 1 1. cook onion and garlic in hot oil till tender but not brown. stir in the next 8 ingredients. simmer uncovered 30 minutes; remove bay leaf. add italian meat balls (see below) and continue cooking about 30 minutes longer.
- 2 2. soak bread in water for 2-3 minutes, then squeeze out moisture. combine soaked bread with remaining ingredients, mixing well. form in small balls (about 20). brown slowly in 2 t hot olive oil. add to sauce, cook 30 minutes as directed above.
