Steel-cut Oat Porridge

Ingredients
- Servings: 3
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses (if you're not used to blackstrap molasses, use less the first time)
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup crushed pineapple with juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 in a saucepan, combine oats, water, molasses and brown sugar.
- 2 bring to a boil.
- 3 stir in pineapple and cinnamon.
- 4 if desired, you could add some raisins, currants or other dried fruit.
- 5 reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding additional water if necessary to prevent sticking.
- 6 cook until water is absorbed and oats are cooked.
