Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 cups brown rice
- 4 1/4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
Recipe
- 1 heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- 2 add rice and stir until it begins to crackle, about two minutes.
- 3 add water and seasonings.
- 4 cover pot, bring to a boil and reduce heat to a low simmer.
- 5 cook for 45-55 minutes until rice is fluffy and has absorbed all the water.
- 6 remove from heat, transfer to a serving dish, and serve at once.
