Sadies Homemade Bread

Total Time: 4 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 4 hrs Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs flour
  • 3/4 ounce yeast (3 packages)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 5 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 teaspoons oil

Recipe

  • 1 mix salt and flour together
  • 2 mix 1 1/2 c warm water with yeast and sugar, let sit 5-6 minutes or until it begins to rise.
  • 3 pour yeast mixture into flour and knead together until smooth (about 15 minutes) adding the additional 5 c water and oil as needed.
  • 4 dough should be smooth like silk with no rough lumps.
  • 5 let rise in a warm spot until size of dough has doubled.
  • 6 punch down dough and divide into 6 loaves let rise one more time.
  • 7 bake at 400 for 20-22 minutes.
  • 8 bread is done when it is golden brown and sounds hollow when thumped.
