Savory Saucy Pasta

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 3 cups dry pasta
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, coarsely chopped
  • 2 celery ribs, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons dried italian seasoning, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 whole bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Recipe

  • 1 using a 4 or 6 quart saucepan, saute onions, carrots, garlic, and celery in the cooking oil until slightly tender, about ten minutes, over medium low heat.
  • 2 add pasta sauce, broth or stock, dried herbs, chili powder, and bay leaf into pan and stir well. you could also add a teaspoon of sugar if you like your sauce a little sweeter.
  • 3 bring mixture to a light boil.
  • 4 add pasta of your choice to saucepan and cover.
  • 5 turn heat down to simmer slowly, stirring occasionally making sure to keep pasta moist.
  • 6 let simmer 15-20 minutes or until pasta is tender.
  • 7 remove bay leaf and serve.
