Sourdough Bread (french)

Total Time: 5 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 5 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe

  • 1 mix water, the sourdough start and flour in a non-metallic bowl. cover loosely. let stand in warm place until mixture bubbles and has a definite sour aroma (about 24 hours).
  • 2 mix sugar, salt and baking soda into sourdough mixture. stir in enough of the remaining flour to make dough easy to handle. knead dough on well-floured surface. form and let rise until double in size, covered.
